Matthew L. King
Matthew
L. King has almost eighteen years experience as a practising lawyer in British
Columbia. He has appeared on behalf of clients in both the Provincial and
Supreme Courts in British Columbia, but has primarily been engaged over
the last several years in a general solicitor's practice, including, and
most recently concentrating on Wills and Estates as well as Powers of Attorney
and Adult Guardianship.
Born in Toronto, Matthew's family relocated to the North Vancouver area in the early 1960s. Matthew obtained a Bachelor of Science degree (Physics) from the University of British Columbia and then, after a few years in the workplace, relocated to Victoria where he obtained a law degree from the University of Victoria in 1984. He then articled and practised briefly at Milne Selkirk before setting up his own general practice in 1986 as a sole practitioner in the Ladner area. After moving his practice to the Tsawwassen area in 1990, he then joined with another general practitioner in that area in 1994. In 2000, Matthew rejoined Milne Selkirk at their New Westminster office, where he continues to practice.
At the outset, Matthew's practice was very general in nature, including both litigation and solicitor's work, but for the last several years Matthew has been focussed on solicitor's work. Matthew has wide ranging experience in areas such as commercial and corporate law, as well as residential conveyancing and land title matters, but over the last several years Matthew has been concentrating mainly on Wills, Estates , Powers of Attorney and Adult Guardianship issues.
Matthew has also been directly involved with the not for profit sector, serving for many years as a director and officer of a local charitable society.
Matthew has acted for and represented individuals, small businesses and large corporations. With his broad base of knowledge, and experience with a wide spectrum of clients, Matthew brings a useful perspective to issues of personal planning, estate planning and estate administration.
